Day 212

Brilliant Brooks

Well, we are now a month into our break from our round-the-world trip. We came back as we had an interview at the American Embassy, booked 9 months ago. Hopefully the outcome will be that we can stay in the States 6 months not 3.

So, while we wait, we have been busy. I think we have regained about a stone in weight due to selflessly helping family and friends clear their houses of cake and alcohol. In 4 days we even devoured a 14” Christmas cake, thanks Anne and Pete!

We have been doing a few trip related jobs too!

Tom had a problem with his Brooks saddle. In 6 months, he managed to pretty much wear it out. I rang Steve at Brooks and he kindly agreed to look it over. He explained we had really chosen the wrong saddle; it was designed as a comfortable saddle to potter about on not cycle round the world. Within a few days of getting it back they had replaced the leather seat, adjusting bolt and given it a make over, it was returned looking like new! However as Steve advised a more heavy duty saddle he also put one in the box! Tom is busy road testing the new saddle now, thanks Steve!

We have barely been on the bikes this year, but today in an attempt to shift some of the Christmas cake pounds and bed-in the new saddle we set off around Northampton. We revisited Pitsford Reservoir, where Tom ran many a marathon and I did a few! We also found a lane clearly named in honour of my lovely hubby!

Feeling almost normal again, not long now until we hit the road for real!
