Day 352
The Big 60
Getting older is a privilege. I often moan about reaching the Big 60 but to be honest I know I’m the lucky one. I’m so blessed. I have spent many years working hard, but at a job I loved with a small band of wonderful people. I was able to go from full to part time work at the age of 56, and a year ago was able to set off on a trip most people can only dream about. A lot of the time the trip is just hard work, but I do feel selfish too. I’m not at home to care for my mum anymore, spend time with family and friends, no more regular visits to see my wonderful in-laws Brian and Sue. Instead, I get to spend 24/7 with my awesome hubby, Tom, ride my bike nearly every day, and see so much of the world. For my birthday I have been treated to a few nights out of the tent and have stayed at the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton Canada. To say the setting is beautiful is a massive understatement! The young staff here are an absolute joy, and the food and service are fantastic. Tomorrow it’s back on the road, today I’m off for a stroll and possibly later have one more cocktail whilst enjoying that view. Well, would be daft not too!
