Day 41
Aquatic litterpicking
After very heavy rain during the night the forecast was for an equally wet day. However it was dry and mild, go Carlsberg!
Not the most exciting of routes to Shrewsbury, though we passed Whittington Castle, which was rather wonderful and served stunning scones too. The castle was built on a piece of land that had been lived on for 2,000 years. The present castle was built around 1200, to defend the English from the Welsh. Now if those scones had been available all those years ago, I am sure a good sit down with a cuppa and afternoon tea could have sorted things!
We spent the night with Neil and Kate, a really wonderful couple, who are part of the Warmshowers network. Clothes washed, us showered, it was an evening of good food and great company, thanks!
Tomorrow we had planned to wildcamp, but Neil and Kate offered to let us stay, which we gratefully accepted, and that will mean we can host another Wild shower member Josie, who is cycling Lejog, result!
The next day we were introduced to the art of aquatic litterpicking as Kate helped clear up plastic, tins and bottles, plus lots of tennis balls, from the river. Another amazing couple making the world a better place and a privilege to have met them.
