Day 51
Woodland wildcamp
We were really sad to leave Alex the Parakeet, yes he flew and landed on us, nibbled our clothes, attacked any button, kicked up a fuss if we didn’t share breakfast, lunch and dinner with him, but by the time we left we loved him for all of the above.
Leaving Belfast the roads were really quiet with friendly shouts of encouragement from people. Gradually pretty much all traffic disappeared. We were heading to Lough Neagh, the largest lake in the British Isles, covering 153 square miles. Apart from one locked gate the route was straightforward. The lake didn’t disappoint and we were loving the riding and friendly people. The choice of food in small shops was so much better than England, a big help when cycle touring.
Tom had researched where to wild camp and it was perfect, even had toilets and a picnic table, result!
