Day 11
Back to Northampton
After a wonderful restful evening we started the day with a fabulous breakfast. Sue then took us on a tour of the village and a visit to the village shop, which is run as a cooperative by volunteers. We bought a few treats to enjoy on our journey, great to see such a fantastic facility for the village which clearly is a hub of friendship and support. Our only disappointment was to miss Thursday cake day.
Sue and Rick had advised us to change our planned route and their local advice paid off. We cycled along the stunning Stanwick Lakes cycle route. So beautifully set out to take advantage of the scenery. As we rode along we stopped to chat with the fabulous June and her dogs. She was fascinated by our plans and full of questions about the trip. She even offered us her caravan to stay in if we needed a break.
We were heading home to Tom's parents, unfortunately Tom's dad was not well so we had a slight change of plans. Instead of cycling via my sister Mel's to my sisters in London, Tom decided to stay with his parents and I went by train for a few days in Wimbledon. I didn’t make it to Centre Court, but sat in deck chairs watching a big screen, drinking G and Ts was great fun.
