Day 47

A parrot on the peace line

A very pleasant ferry crossing with StenaLine brought us to Belfast, the first time either of us had been to Northern Ireland. The spare time on the crossing also allowed me to get the route gpx on ‘The route so far’ page - check it out. Thanks to Olly for the tips on how to do this. Just need to work out the width/placement next. Looking forward to seeing that line grow and weave over the coming months and years. Warmshowers had given us another unique opportunity, this time to pet-sit a parrot for a host that was away. A charming and super-friendly Alexandrine parakeet called Alex who has no hesitation in sitting on your shoulder for a chat gave us lots of smiles. The flat is on the Limestone Road peace line and it is interesting for us to see the local neighbourhoods, which seem to have more positive murals and artwork than walls now. Here’s to parrots and to peace!
