Day 510
Return of the Belle
We rode off our hangovers, the views of the final few miles of the Bay of Conception inspiring us. Then, more hills, more cacti, more desert then finally, after nearly 60 miles we arrived at Loreto. We had made good time and were there by 2pm. Isabell was out buying us a welcome beer, and soon we were partying once more! She was still not 100% but so happy to see us. We ate out at a street cafe with the locals, no tacos this time but a wonderful soup. Just what the doctor ordered! After a stroll around the pretty town, we returned to our hotel and a nightcap, tomorrow us three would be back on the road.
In the morning we decided to shop so we could cook our own meals for a day or so. We found an awesome bread shop, and armed with local cheeses, hardboiled eggs and salad, we headed along the coast.
Now ever since we met Isabell, she has wanted to make it onto our Top 10 wild camps. Several times she has almost made it, but we set very high standards. Today though with the help of ioverlander she did it! Just a short ride along the coast we arrived at Playa Ligüi. There was a shop selling cold beers, I know, I know, but we didn’t buy anymore tequila, at least I don’t think we did. Then a bit of a wobbly sandy mile ride to the beach and we had our newest Top 10 camp spot. A beautiful bay greeted us. Sheltered, no bugs, no other campers, just the odd fisherman. Tom climbed a hill, Isabell and I simply sat and watched the sea. It was bliss.
