Day 57
Beautiful Errigal
Yesterday was so wonderful, that both Tom and I were a little down when we set off. The sun wasn’t coming out to play, and the grey sky reflected our mood.
We were back on the Donegal cycle way, and were riding a circuit of a mountain range. At times if felt as if we were riding over the mountains themselves! Mount Errigal at 751 metres was the star, but the whole range was simply awesome.
We stopped to chat to a local cyclist who asked us had we ridden the old railway line? Err, no! Still we decided after all that work we deserved lunch and diverted to the village of Falcarragh and were incredibly lucky to get a table at very popular local bistro, Batch. The reason it was so popular was clear, awesome food and service and the best coffee in 57 days on the road!
Then, with achy legs we hit the hills again, but were finally treated to a long, long, long downhill, virtually to our campsite, Sleepy Hollows at Killindarragh. Not only does it have a room with a kettle, but also pots and pans, free coffee and tea and also a cooker. The Primus stove can stay in its bag tonight. We were so impressed we booked an extra night, the fact that there is a pub 200 yards up the road had no bearing on our decision, honest!
