Day 800
Plan B
Back on Day 207 after our ‘warm up lap’ around Ireland, France and Spain, we made a plan for getting around the world, and figured it would take around 4-5 years. That was Plan A. Then the cataracts happened and we’ve now spent nearly 4 months in England getting them sorted. Today Debs had her eye pressure checked at the optician and all was good. If the hospital give her the OK on Friday then we are good to get back on the bikes (which are still in Medellin).
Trouble is, we’ve now missed the seasonal weather window to get to Ushuaia in the summer months. So instead of rushing through South America, getting buses or flights, or missing bits, we’ve decided to take our time and weave around a bit for 15 months, taking in Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay before heading to the end of the world in Dec 2024. We might not get to ride the Uyuni Salt Flats or get up to Cusco, as it will be rainy season there, but we’ll get to see lots of other stuff and have more time to stop and do hikes and other exploring. And it’s only 10,000 miles and half a million feet of ascent!
We’ve started a list of things we want to see on the continent. Let us know if there’s anything you think we should see while we’re there.
To say we’re both very excited is an understatement!
