Day 94
Belle Normandie
After a wonderful breakfast with Anne and Ronan we set off in brilliant sunshine. Today we were cycling to Avranches, to stay with another Warmshowers host, Edith. I found I was still in the mood just to ride and relax. The roads were so quiet, the small villages we passed through so beautiful, I just wanted to ride and enjoy the views. We stopped for cakes, bought from a boulangerie by me, amazing how I can speak French when food is on offer! Tom flew the drone to capture the stunning bay, I just ate cake. Then we found one of the best beaches in the world. Then we were held up by a car crash and air ambulance - the video of this will show something extraordinary…
Edith had kindly offered to host us despite having a broken wrist. Although Edith gave us directions to miss a big hill we still managed to ride up a few as we approached Avranches. We stopped and had a good look at the church, Notre-Dame-des-Champs. It was built in the late 19th century, and although badly damaged by Allied bombing during WW2 was rebuilt identically. From here it was thankfully downhill to Edith’s. Together we cooked dinner, before Edith headed off to an evening appointment and Tom and I caught up with our blog!
