Day 233

Ticket to Ride

Well, I thought with two months at home we would be able to see all our friends and family, sort the bikes, replace worn kit, get all the film edited into videos, get jabbed, plan the route, keep the weight off we lost, get Visas, decorate my sister’s kitchen and still have time to be tourists and see some sights in London.

We haven’t quite achieved all of that. We started quite well, sorted Tom’s new bike. Then it was Christmas. We celebrated with friends and family. We regained the weight we had lost. I discovered size 10 Liv shorts are sold out everywhere, but we gradually managed to track down other items we needed.

Tom decided to make a cover for our second pan to cook rice and pasta in. What do you do with the spare insulated bubble wrap? Well nephew Jed is ready to repel alien invaders!

Evans in Wimbledon gave us a bike box, but it was 2” too small for Tom’s bike, but fine for mine. We’ll go back tomorrow and hope Paul, who was really helpful can find us a slightly bigger one.

We went to the American Embassy, not to swim in the see-through pool, but to hopefully get our Visas for six months. We were so nervous, took enough paperwork to sink a battleship, but it went as smooth as clockwork and we were approved. They have our passports and in a few days we should have our Visas!

So we  have less than three weeks to decorate a kitchen, finish off a series of expensive jabs, edit about 100 hours of film footage and pack! I’ve given up on my Liv shorts hunt and will be trying out a pair of Endura Xtract Gel instead. They were all Evans had in stock in my size!

I doubt we will get to see as much of London as we hoped, we’ve had a great break but are ready to get back on our bikes. Florida here we come!
